Bahia’s road network includes about 120,000km of rural municipal roads that serve the state’s more remote areas

This network links small farmers to both markets and social services, and is thus fundamental for their wellbeing.

Among the outcomes supported by the project are:

  • Improving the condition of more than 3,314 km of the rural municipal roads,
  • Improving the access of rural communities to the road infrastructure by improving 2,654 critical points on rural roads, in 64 municipalities.

We have been appointed to develop a methodology for the socio-economic impact assessment and to measure the impacts of the works on local development and  living conditions through two household sample surveys before and after the works.
