In support to the implementation of the port complex of Açu superport in the municipal district of São João da Barra (RJ), Synergia was hired to plan and implement the relocation process of the families living in small agricultural sites located in project’s area of influence.
Originally the project of Açu Superport included a metal-mechanic complex, a base for liquid bulk storage, a shipbuilding unit, a thermoelectric complex, an oil treatment facility, in addition to offshore and IT industries, iron ore pelletizing plant, steel mills and cement factories.
Building of Açu Superport started in 2007, occupying a total area of 90 square kilometers. The terminals in Açu Superport’s Industrial Complex will have a depth of up to 26 m and 17 km of piers, with capacity to receive up to 47 vessels.
Synergia worked in the conception, implementation and monitoring of the Involuntary Resettlement Program, developed based on the international policy framework adopted by the World Bank / IFC: the performance standard No. 5
