The Perpignan Méditerranée district invested in a Bus-Tram system and acquired its first Bus Rapid Transit line.
The initial operations concern 24 km of roads spread into 10 km dedicated to the “Bus-Tram” line and 14 km of additional roads with specific developments. The roads dedicated to the public transport system will serve a total of 38 stations. The city of Perpignan successfully commissioned 12 buses with a high service level (bhns) named “Bus-Tram” which will serve the first line linking the north to the south of the city.
Travelling at a speed of 16 km/h, the “Bus-Tram” benefits from services comparable to those of a tramway, including priority crossing, station accessibility, ticket machines in stations and real-time travel information in the vehicle and in the station.
