The Padroselos Hydropower scheme, included in the global contract for the conception and design of the “Alto Tâmega, Daivões, Gouvães and Padroselos Hydropower Schemes”, has a Dam on Beça river in concrete gravity with 109 m maximum height above the foundation and 335 m of crowning development

The Padroselos Hydropower scheme comprises:

  • The Dam on Beça river in concrete gravity with 109 m maximum height above the foundation and 335 m of crowning development;
  • Water intake, which included a pit of floodgates of about 48m in height and a circular cross-section with 8.40 m in diameter;
  • Spillway over the dam body, designed for a maximum discharge of 785 m³/s
  • A pressure gallery of about 2.5 km in length and a circular section of 6.0m internal diameter;
  • A balance in vertical shaft of 101.5 m in height and a circular section of 15m internal diameter;
  • Forced underground conduct, armoured, in 4,7 m in diameter steel, about 700 m in length and 28.1 % inclination;
  • An underground central with a total installed power of 230 MW, equipped with 2 reversible groups, each group with a maximum flow rate of 60.0 m³/s, includes an access tunnel, a pit of cables and of emergency and several galleries of attack and linking;
  •  A gallery of restitution 160 m in length and a circular cross-section with 6m inner diameter.
