The construction of the University Hospital (CHU) meets the international standards for sanitation. It has been built within the framework of the Health Sector Management Program Support Project (PAGESS) representing a total investment 932 million DH.
Built on an area of 10 ha (52,000 sqm of floor space), the new 653-bed health care center is composed of a specialty hospital, a mother-and-child hospital, a burn center, a legal medicine department, a central laboratory, emergency services, educational units, a boarding school and other administrative and technical premises. The Mohammed VI University Hospital also houses the Hassan II cancer center and the hospital for mental health and psychiatric diseases.
This new health infrastructure equipped with state of the art technologies contributes to the development of the hospitals in the Oriental region and strengthens the provision of basic health services. Citizens no longer need to go to Fès or Rabat for complicated surgeries or some difficult pathologies.
