Extension of the administrative and industrial buildings of the European Synchrotron Radiation Facility

Multiannual program on the modernisation of the ESRF aiming an extension of 12,700 sqm.

It concerns four buildings: one fully independent building housing two floors of office space and three “industrial” buildings juxtaposed to the existing building, dedicated to the beamlines extension. One of the complexities of this project lies in the soil stability (static and dynamic), treated by a 35 cm-thick reinforced concrete slab (330 kg/m3) placed on a 65cm-thick cement-treated base (bituminous interface to allow displacement during the drying process and to limit the shrinkage stress with a total sill plate surface of 4,400 m², to which a temporal thermal stability must be added (± 0.5°C).
