New commercial and leisure centre - Quai des Usines/Pont Van Praet (Brussels)

The project for a new eco-friendly district is located on the banks of the canal not far from the Parc Royal and the Pont Van Praet. The project, called “Docks Bruxsel” extends over an area of 3.3 hectares. It will provide 4000 m2 of retail space (120 shops over 3 floors), 8000 m2 of leisure space, an events area that can hold up to 1500 people, as well as 7000 m2 of business premises (workshops, offices, various premises, etc.) Eight cinema auditoriums with 100 to 200 seats will be built in 2 of the 8 buildings. 6 of the 8 buildings will be built under an 11,000 m2 glass roof to form the “Mall”. One of the buildings called the “Cathéderale” is one of the oldest industrial buildings in Brussels (1830). It will be restored to house a museum space, shops and offices. The leisure centre will open in October 2016.

Special feature: 100% of the site’s heating will be provided by the heat recovery unit on the Bruxelles-Propreté incinerator tower nearby.
