Synergia is responsible for developing and implementing the resettlement plan for the families living in the area of influence of Anglo American’s Minas-Rio Project.
With a total investment of more than US$ 5 billion, the Minas-Rio project includes one iron ore mine and one beneficiation facility in Conceição do Mato Dentro e Alvorada de Minas (MG); a power transmission line, a 525km pipeline that will cross 33 municipal districts in the states of Minas Gerais and Rio de Janeiro and the iron ore terminal of Açu Superport, in São João da Barra (RJ).
Because of this project, Synergia has been supporting the productive, social and economic restructuring of the families directly impacted by the construction of the mine in Conceição do Mato Mato Dentro. By 2013, the actions included:
- Development of an assistance plan, detailing the social actions;
- Development of architectural plans for the resettlement of families and regularization of the new constructions;
- Support to the families during the moving process and post moving socio-economic monitoring, to check the impact of this process and evaluate the level of adaptation, social life reorganization and satisfaction of those families, according to the guidelines of the World Bank’s policy framework and the procedures of the International Finance Corporation (IFC).
