Since 2013, Synergia has developed and implemented the Environmental Education Program regarding the process of licensing of the mine and processing plant of Anglo American’s Minas-Rio project.
The main objective of the Environmental Education Program, conducted in the area of influence of the Anglo American’s Minas-Rio Project, is to develop an understanding and to direct critical and conscious action of the population on key social and environmental challenges in the territory.
The so-called preservation program operates in five municipalities of the middle Espinhaço ridge region, Alvorada de Minas, Conceição do Mato Dentro, Dom Joaquim, Santana do Riacho, and Serro. The specific target audience of this program includes teachers and school managers of municipal education, general communities, community leaders, people with an interest in the environment, and families in or post the resettlement process.
Between 2014 and early 2015, the Program has developed training and thematic workshops for teachers and school managers, environmental contest on solid waste management for students in the schools, photo contest and lectures for the community at large, and environmental courses and meetings with families resettled to assist them in the transition and adaptation to the new housing process.
Currently, Synergia is participating in a new auction for the continuation of services.
